The New Bladeless Fan From Dyson
After coming up with revolutionary vacuum cleaners, wheelbarrows, hand driers, trolleys and numerous other ingenious inventions, James Dyson has now come up with a new way to stay cool this summer; the bladeless fan.
Although he officially launched the product in 2009, it was only available to buy a couple of months ago and already looks like being a massive success. Working by pulling air in through its cylindrical base and forcing it out through the ring, the gadget can keep a constant blast of cool air coming at you, without the need for blades.
Without any kind of blade, the invention is the safest fan to date and should remove any worry about leaving your meaty desk fan running when there are children in the room.
The only real drawback would seem to be the gadgets’ price tag, coming in at around the £199
mark. However you do have to pay for quality, and with the summer being extremely hot and portable air conditioners costing a lot more than that, the price doesn’t appear to have stopped consumers worldwide snapping up the new invention. According to shops like Marks and Spencer and John Lewis, sales of the fans have increased 4 times and represent one third of all the fans sold in the last 30 days. It’s not especially shocking either given how hot it is; the fan i’m using would just be blowing around warm air if i didn’t have my 12v dehumidifier my office at home would quickly become impossible to work in!
Other beneficial sides of the new invention include a 15x level of efficiency (compared to a normal desk fan), making it a perfect solution in the current financial climate. The new fan is also far easier to clean that any other fan you’ll come across and is the ideal addition to any family home.
Dyson did find himself defending this popular new invention however, after it was claimed the idea had been come up with in Japan over 30 years previously. Despite this though, the new bladeless fan has recieved both consumer and industry praise and looks like it could be the gadget to have for summer 2010. All i’m after now is Mr. Dyson to design a good air purification system, because mine refuses to work, and we’re all ready!
