How do I test the air in my office for air quality?
I suspect there is a problem with the air in my room I teach in at school. I get headaches, dizziness, tiredness etc after I have been in the room for a few hours.
The A/C was just repaired in DEc. 07. I would like to test the air for mold, radon, etc.
I’ve put in a work order but I feel they are not going to take me seriously. How do I test it on my own?
Test it on your own? Uhh…ok, I won’t take that literally. You are going to have to call someone in that has a portable sampling unit and the appropriate analysis machines back at a lab somewhere. These would include an FTIR spec and a GC/MS. I’m sure there are companies in your area that do this kind of work. OK, maybe just one. Call a local testing laboratory, they will probably be able to steer you in the proper direction.
I’ll warn you, this won’t be cheap. I’ve never done this kind of work and I’ve only worked with FTIRs and GC/MS in university settings, but hiring professionals to come in, sample, then test and analyze results using this kind of equipment is going to cost a pretty penny. You are talking about some very esoteric and highly skilled personnel.
