furnace exhaust vent?
have to replace furnace exhaust vent elbows going out of the house. I cut the pcv pipe and out came a bunch of water. I know this is condensation from the exhaust gases. do I slope the pipe towards the furnace to cure the water problem? This is a high effeceint furnace. former owner hit the exhaust vent with tractor i guess and broke two elbows on it.

2 1/4 pcv pipe coming out the foundation. Found another pipe inside about 1 ft long.What is the inside pipe for?
It is OK to slope to the furnace because there is a condensate drain at the low point inside the furnace. It is also OK to slope outside if you use the proper fitting so it can drain (you can install a tee with outlets facing up and down). It is not OK to have the line run flat or have a low spot. Water will condense in the line and it must have a definite path to get out or it will restrict the flow of gasses. I recommend having the complete line slope back to the furnace so you don’t have a problem with water and ice outdoors.
