Is there a way to convert an old forced air oil furnace to an electric one?
You can install an electric heater inside the supply duct or Right at the outlet or inlet to the unit.
For same heating requirement, the electric heaters will not be as comfortable as your furnace.
Some important criteria to watch:
1- Minimum air velocity should be about 650 FPM or as indicated in the coil brochure. So you must know CFM (cubic feet per minute) amount of air first. (see furnace catalog).
2- Provide 2 feet access in front of the panel (where switches are)of coil.
Install a new air switch to stop the coil when there is no fan blow.
3- Avoid any duct bend 3′ before and 3′ after the coil or as indicated in coils brochure.
4- Plan to bring in new high electric power requirement to the coil. Most probably you will need electrician, circuit breaker, and you may need new electric panel.
