Inline Duct Fan/Booster or Register Fan?
I have a finished attic that has a vent that is having trouble getting cold air through it. I will be doing some work this evening to fix this, including blocking a vent that pulls the air away from this vent which goes upstairs. Along with this I am looking into putting in an inline duct fan or just a register fan for the top. I could also do both. Just want opinions. Is it worth putting in a duct fan? Do they work? do register grill fans work?
The duct work basically comes off the main duct from the central a/c duct and goes literally straight up about 18 ft. The cold air continues to go through the main duct and the little bit of cool air that does go up mostly is lost by the time it gets through 18 ft, leaving me with a very very warm room upstairs. Please help, thank you.
All your solutions will work. There is no point in overkill when either the in-line duct-fan would probably work best. you might have satisfactory results with an in-line damper on the line that is pulling the air away.
