Car Fresh
Recirculate or fresh for car A/C: Which is more healthy to breathe?

If air quality inside the car is the only concern, which is better, keeping the A/C on recirculate or fresh? The obvious answer seems to be to always keep the A/C on recirculate, otherwise it will bring in carbon monoxide and other fumes from outside traffic. Does anyone have differing opinions? How effective are most cars’ filtration systems with respect to filtering out harmful fumes from traffic?

I can answer part of this. There is no filtering in a car’s A/C, or heater. You are getting the direct air from outside of the car.
