Why is my Central Air not cooling my house like it should?
The air coming from the vents is kind of cool but not cool enough. It stays on way too long and is very slow to effect the temp on thermostat. Bought the home 2 years ago and the heating/air conditioning unit was new. Water is pooled up under furnace. Drainage lines and pump work fine. Looks like a lot of the water is coming from directly above furnace and running down to floor. lots of condensation along sides.
First, check your filters. Have you changed them regularly? Blocked filters will degrade your system’s performance.
Second, if you’ve got water pooling under the furnace then then something is leaking and/or blocked somewhere. The first place to check is your condensation drain line and its pump. You may think they’re working, but, if they were, that water wouldn’t be there.
Other things:
Clean the coils in the outside unit. Just rinse them down with a garden hose.
Check the coolant level. There should be a sight gauge somewhere near the outside unit. If you see any bubbles in it, you need more coolant.
